Run Nice walk enjoying nature including the porcupine which was in the hollow of the tree, several deer and chatting with many walkers like me out enjoying nature. Sat at the fireplace by the Park Office and chatted with a guy named Ryan (Munday) for about 45 minutes who, as we talked, I found out that he is the President of the Riverbend Community Association.

Run Went for a walk wearing both of my brand new braces to see how they would feel. The left one seemed to be tucked in pretty good, but the right one did some slipping and I had to do a lot of adjusting to get it to stay in place.
Went walking to the porcupine tree and there was one up top...first time I have seen it in months. Also dropped some seeds for the woodpecker to enjoy.

The start of the race was a little chilly and I was wearing a run jacket and liner, but after going around the initial 400 meter circuit, I had to take the liner off. The start of the run is basically a very uphill endeavour that taxed everyone judging by the amount of the people walking, but once you are past 11 km, it is almost all downhill until you hit one last surprise uphill.I was a lot slower than last year when I did this race, but again, mostly due to lack of practice as a result of my bad knees.

But I had enough layers on to be warm enough. The run started just outside the Calgary Zoo and went out and back on public pathway. As it turned out the fun run was measured short at only 4.15 km. As a result I decided to add on the distance to ensure I had a 5 km completion. Rod S and Dave L also did the same.
